Our new website is still under construction but the good news is that we are making real progress thanks to Vicky Wu who has been diligently repairing the damage caused by the first “website designer”. The Keyword Search gives good results, Notable Manufacturers is getting much better and the Shop all 6000+… works just fine.
We are working on other search options and they will appear shortly. Meanwhile we lost all the invaluable Google rankings that, after over 20 years, had us appear first or near the top of Google searches. We will just have rebuild them.
If you don’t like the website please use Gunbroker (do an advanced search for “cornellpubs”), not eBay which costs a fortune in commissions for each sale!

Hodgdon c1975 Black Powder Manual Hello. Would you accept $13.95 Thank You kennethr3653 (eBay)
No, I’m sorry, we run a store with the lowest prices we can offer considering the exorbitant commissions ebay charges and the high cost of producing over 6000 old firearms publications.
Shove it where the sun don’t shine. Cheap bastards. I just bought a brand new original copy for $8.00 with free shipping. kennethr3653 (eBay)
Sir, There is no need for abusive language, in fact, it is against the eBay rules and can result in sanctions for you. We run a shop and like any other shop. You can either buy from us, or if you can get a better price elsewhere, buy it there, but don’t use threatening or bad language toward us for doing our job. Don’t forget we print to order each publication we offer and it costs a lot of money for all the overhead needed to offer such a unique service. (Jerk- no, I didn’t call him a jerk on eBay, they have rules, ya know) Rob

Message: I’m searching for a book with information about the Remington UMC 14 1/2 44-40 take down slide action rifle. Stripping an assembly, can you assist me with this search please with cost and shipping to Australia. Thank you very much for your assistance. Paul
Hi Paul, The Remington 14 plus Model 14 1/2 & 141 & 25 Complete Manual and History-Blauch is best publication on the 14.5. However, we don’t ship overseas anymore, governments including yours, want us to collect their import duty and associated taxes, which, as a small business, we just don’t have time for. So, buy the PDF version at the website and either print it yourself or have a local shop print it, or just use the pdf. Sorry, but that is the best we can offer. Cheers, Rob
Rob, Thank you so much for your time and the explanation, some time ago I had the fortune of buying a publication from you and thank you so much for that opportunity, government’s are petty with their rubbish, but thank you for informing me a way around this with purchasing the PDF file, I will look into doing this as you have some more publication’s I wish to buy. So if the PDF file is the way to go I will continue to support your business. Thank you once again. Paul

Abby: This seems to be the last Newsletter I’ve gotten from you’all. What happened, you don’t like me any more? Wes
Hi Wes, We took the summer off from the newsletter after 20 years doing it every month. I’ll bug Rob to get at it!, Best, Abby
Good for you’all, it’s about time after 20 years. No complaints here, I was just wondering. I’ll be looking forward. Wes

I just ordered the Winchester 1873 catalog by mistake! I wanted to order the Winchester 1875 catalog. Can you please change my order Thank you very much! Stephen
Hi Stephen, I fixed it, no problem! Best, Abby

It seems odd to me that none of the old ammo catalogs from back in the day offer any info on actual projectile diameters, either naked bullet or paper patched, for cartridges such as the .43 Spanish or .44/77 Remington/Sharps. If you know of any resource in your collection that might help with this, I would greatly appreciate having it pointed out to me! Daniel
Hi Daniel, I would buy the 1900 Ideal catalog which discusses, among other things, “Fit of Bullets”.
Cheers, Rob

I am looking for manuals/ info on Winchester 1887 Lever Action Shotgun ,Winchester Model 12 16 Gauge Pump Action Shotgun , and Stevens Model 39 A 410 Bolt Action Shotgun . Thank you . RDF
These should help, Rob
The M1887 shotgun is best described and illustrated with cutaway drawings in this Winchester 1887 November Arms & Ammo No.44 catalog:
The M1912 is discussed and illustrated at length in this Winchester 1914 Catalog No.79 Gun Catalog, the first year of the 16ga. The later M12 is nicely discussed and illustrated (all models and grades) in the Winchester 1928-29 Full Arms & Tools Catalog.
This is an excellent takedown manual for the M1912: Winchester Model 12 Gunsmith Complete Takedown Manual
The Stevens M39A is a bit more elusive. There is a Springfield .410 M39, tubular mag., bolt action, 2 1/2 inch in the Stevens 1938 Springfield and Crescent/Davis Distributors Catalog and this one (3 inch): Stevens 1946 Rifle & Shotgun Gun #43 Catalog and the parts are illustrated in this one: Stevens 1942 Component Parts Catalog (BTW, they also made a M39 Pistol much earlier)

Sir. How can I tell if my 1888 colt firearms catalog is a copy? Does have black binding, and three staples. Military and sporting arms. Thank you. It says first edition. Looks green has rough paper. Excellent.
I would have to see it to tell, but if it says first edition and is in excellent condition, my guess is that it is a copy. Also, I don’t think staples were widely used in the 19th century. Best, Abby

Monkton Farleigh Mine 1943 Flyer– Secret UK Installation – earley-retired-08
The listing (to me ) seems a little confusing – although the subject of it is the 1940s , the exhibition would have been decades later due to the Official secrets act – normally a minimum gap of at least 30 years before information is put into the “public Domain”. Late 1970s seems the earliest it could be as the address has modern Post Codes (not before 1970) & similar era telephone codes. Regards, David
David, The date in the ad refers to 1943, when the installation was active, not when the flyer was printed. Rob

Falling Blocks and Other Single Shots from Hopkins & Allen – Carder draconus43077
Hello evening, I’m a customer, got a few books from you so figured I would ask for another I’m looking for. Do u have any books on Stevens rifles and carbines mainly one that covers the single shot rifles they made in 1870s-1890s like the tip-up rifles and falling block ones ???? Let me know thank you -Ed
Ed, We list about half our reprints on eBay so I’m not sure how many of the following are available here. We offer Stevens catalogs for the following years: 1875, 77early, 77late, 88, 89, 90, 96, 97, 98 and so on. Also, there is the Stevens Arms Company History by Joe Vorisek which covers a lot of individual weapons. Each of these items has an index of contents, I hope this helps. Rob for cornellpubs

Do you have any catalogs with lawn tennis rackets in them from 1885-1899? Rick
Hi Rick, Enter the word Tennis in the search bar, but I think 1893 Meacham is the only one picturing rackets. (after going back and forth with him about the “quality” of the image, I finally sent him the image by email)

Hi I recieved both weatherby books 1973-1980 , thanks!! *******************************************
Browning 1972 Firearms and Sporting Items – operat54 Sir: Could you please take a moment to answer my question about this Catalog: Could you please ascertain if it lists/shows: a ” ***Browning “BSS” Side by Side Double Barrel Shotgun**** This gun was first produced in **1972** BUT I’m not sure it would have made the publication date…..to be in the Catalog. IF it’s in there, then I’ll order one from you. Thanks so much for your help and patience with my question. Bobby.
Bobby, yes it is. Best Abby *******************************************
robersim4: Your website says shipping is combined. I asked about combined shipping before the original order. I don’t see any notifications about a refund. This is the second time I’m writing to find out if the shipping for the second item will be refunded. The order for the two manuals has already arrived in the same envelope. I’m about ready to start ripping reviews and contacting e-bay. For the second time, will the shipping for the second item be refunded?
Bob, Abby refunded the shipping for the lesser of the titles (although mailing two in the same package costs more than mailing one, and the difference is what we normally refund- combined shipping). We do the best we can for a couple of seniors. Anyway, we forgot to refund your $3.67 and I apologize. We hope that a refund is sufficient to dissuade you from your threat to bomb us with bad feedback, note that we have close to 25,000 positive feedbacks, except those from a few hotheads. Hey, thanks. Was just trying to get your attention. No intention of blasting your ratings, etc. My best friends are 71. He had had Covid fatigue for 6+ months. I helped carry the load. It was all me could do to get the yard addressed and damage from an AC drain leak before his son’s family came in for the summer. His wife is kind of frail. She maxes out the deductibles early in the year. Managed to split her skin open twice in a couple of weeks. I’m a mere 66 and still manage 60 mile bike rides. I’m seriously thinking about starting to help work on a F4D Phantom across the road at Ellington Field. Take good care. Thanks again. Bob

I’m trying to tell the difference between the two different Pederson Self-Loading Rifle publications that you have on e-bay. This one has a long list of contents. Seems like perhaps related to the development of the gun. The 1930 manual is definitely PB version and only mentions assembly/disassembly. I have two Pedersen rifles. I want to do the research to figure out if they are T1, PA, PB. I’ll try to look at your list. but it’s easier to ask, Do happen to have manuals for T1 and PA version? Likewise, do you happen to have a manual for the Pedersen Device? (I happen to have two of those as well.) I’ll probably buy each separate one you have. I’m assuming you can combine shipping? Any discount for buying a grouping? I’ll have to think about what else I have around here that I need manuals for. T Thanks much, Bob
We have two publications on the Vickers/Pedersen rifle. The “Pedersen 1930 Circa Self-Loading Rifle M-P.A. Handbook Vickers (UK)” is, as the title suggests, for the Pederson PA. The Pedersen Self-Loading Rifle 1932 Circa Vickers version of the manual that I assume is also a PA but is not identified as such in the manual. I hope this helps. Rob

Gustaf MK760 SMG c1980 Catalog – gungadeals: I didn’t realize how bad your copy of this was until I picked up the original that this is a copy of. Your copy is blurry and looks like it was printed on a 90’s ink jet printer (which is crazy because you print publications).
Thank you for your note. Abby and I reprint over 6,000 different historical arms catalogs, manuals and books in our effort to preserve them before they are all gone. Most are really nice but others were made on primitive photocopiers of the 60s by like-minded men wanting to save some very rare material. Others were sent to us by folks all over the world who helped us by scanning their rare material and sharing it with us. So, you are right, not everything we offer is perfect so we keep prices very reasonable. We do however, we offer a money-back guarantee. If you are very disappointed, just let us know and we will refund your $4.95 purchase. Cheers, Rob Mouat for cornellpubs (besides, it is only a couple of pages and is perfectly easy to read!)
gungadeals: We are fine. I didn’t want to post that as a negative review, just wanted to point out that your copy is lacking (you already know) and it may not be a bad idea to post a disclaimer that it is a scanned copy and may not be perfect.

Russian Manual c1976 AKS-74U (AKS74UN2) rebmic0 Hello, I just wanted to know, is this a “real” manual, or is this a manual that has been photocopied and then reassembled. I am building a project display on Osama B.L./terrorism and this was OBL’s weapon of choice. I don’t want to have a photo copied (new) manual, but an authentic hand manual. Can you tell me if this is “real”? Rebecca
Rebecca – From the ad: Russian Manual c1976 AKS-74U (AKS74UN2) 163 pages, about 11″ x 8″, glossy soft-cover in full color. New re-print restored and digitally enhanced from a nice original. Printed on high quality 20# 97 bright acid free paper. Fully Illustrated. Text in Russian.

Rob & Abby: Thank you for all you do. Over the years I have ordered various catalogs and owners manuals (mainly old S&W stuff) and I have always been very happy with the quality and condition of these items. There are still a few S&W owners manuals that I am looking for (.38 Model of 1905 4th Change, if there was one, the pre-war S&W .38/.44 Heavy Duty, Model 13, and Model 24). I have catalogs for them all, just looking to acquire owners manuals also. I will keep checking in to see if they appear in the listings. And that’s it, mostly I just wanted to leave you some positive feedback from a happy customer. Have a great day, Mike from McHenry IL

762match2012: Sir, looking for information on the 44-40 WCF loading 240 gr. bullets. Searching the internet I found one reference that such information is listed in Lee’s # 1 manual . Does this info actually exist in your manual ? Does your reloading manual list a load for the 44-40 WCF using 240 gr. bullets thank you Carl .
There is nothing listed for the 44-40/240 in the load section. It is mentioned as a legacy BP round and there is lots of text in the booklet so it may come up again. I’m sorry, but I just don’t have time to read the whole thing. Does your source give you any indication where the mention is in the book or what it is related to in the book? The ’53 Ideal we publish goes up to 221g. Do you think an earlier Ideal might have the answer? Rob for cornellpubs
