Hi, I’m the president of the bank and I’d like a million bucks delivered to the Ajax Junk Yard office in East Cupcake, Tennessee…
Man Charged In $700K Casino Theft
An undocumented immigrant from Mexico has been charged in a federal criminal complaint with stealing $700,000 in cash from a west Michigan Casino. Jesus Gaytan Garcia age 43 was arrested and is accused of participating in a scheme to steal money from the Four Winds Casino in Hartford, Michigan. The casino is owned and operated by the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians, officials said.
Investigators allege he was part of a scheme to steal money from the casino in which someone pretending to be the tribal chairman called it and said he needed money for an urgent payment. An employee who was duped by the claim collected $700,000 in cash, left the casino, took it to a Gary Indiana gas station and gave it to two unknown individuals, authorities said.
Agents and police searched Garcia’s home in Chicago, the complaint said. In a safe in the home’s basement, they located a bundle of cash still wrapped in a paper band, stamped withe the word “Hartford” and the date of July 30, 2023. |

A Discussion of Howard Hill and the Longbow
ByJohn LeeMark Belitz
The “King of Archery,” “The World’s Greatest Archer,” “One-Shot,” all names referring to Howard Hill -the champion of the longbow. No matter the title, Howard Hill was legendary, and his success led to the promotion of traditional archery and a surge of interest in the American Semi-Longbow.
Howard Hill viewed the longbow as the most perfect hunting weapon. His modification of the English longbow to suit his needs, became the American Semi-Longbow. The American Semi-Longbow is synonymous with a Hill-style longbow -the bow that led him in his success.
Today there are many versions of the American Semi-Longbow. In a quest to find the features that Howard Hill demanded in his own bows, a weapon that he perfected, was the impetus of this study. We can identify his standards by how his bows were built, what he insisted on in his own line of bows offered to the public, and what he taught to the bowyers employed by him. By examining Howard’s original bows and following the progression of design until he perfected this weapon, we understand the qualities necessary in a Hill-style longbow. If you would like to know more about the equipment and the bow that led to his success, then you will enjoy this book.

We offer just over half our reprints, around 3500 of them, on eBay with the hope that the customers will explore our website for more titles. About a quarter of our total sales are from eBay but almost all our complaints and miserable correspondence come from “eBayers”. The worst part of human nature comes out through the feedback system at eBay where a buyer can leave less than positive feedback without ever contacting the seller as instructed by the eBay rules. Another poor part of the feedback system is to encourage people to “pile on” when they see a neutral or negative and try to see if they can say something even more nasty. For years we had only one or two miscreants express their anger, but this year we’ve had thirteen gleeful naysayers bomb us. We offer below some of the exchanges we’ve had.
Nichols Stallion .45 Cap Gun Manual – Nothing close to the Original This is such a cheap reproduction that Iam Not even going to use it! Putting this in your Collection would Hurt it more than Help it! Even though it was only $10 that’s still $10 Wasted chrisno_9025 ebay
You paid $4.95, the cost of a cup of coffee, for a direct scan of the manual that came with the gun, my gun in fact, a gun I had in the mid-1950s. We’ve sold 115 copies of the same item at eBay with no complaints, and you may return it if you wish. Please read our 25000 positive feedbacks and, in light of what I’ve said, agree to let me send you a revision request to positive feedback. Please let me know. Cheers, Rob for cornellpubs (no reply from him)

Cogswell & Harrison 1900 Sporting Guns and Rifles – Feel it was sorta overpriced – boaredharley – eBay
Abby and I hand print, bind and ship over 6000 different old arms publications from originals we’ve bought. We sell only a few of of most titles, but that is enough to keep us afloat. The Cogswell you bought, for example, has sold only six copies on ebay during the last 20 years! We paid $89 for the original and the profit selling the six reprints, less paper, ink and binding strips, means it hasn’t come close to paying the purchase cost. So, in pricing, we do the best we can to keep going. Now, less than positive feedback ultimately raises prices because people are scared off and bad feedback causes others to “pile on”. If I send you a revision request, would you please agree to revise your feedback to positive? Cheers, Rob for cornellpubs (no reply from him)

Abercrombie & Fitch Firearms & Sports 1910 Catalog – I was a bit suprised that the cover art was not scaled to fit. It almost looks like a polaroid. I understand scalability but you could have vectorized it in illustrator to size it to fit. The content of the book itself is great. Thanks, gelandefahrer – eBay
Hi, Thanks for your note. The original we had didn’t come with a cover so this one was the best I could find. Would you please use this link to give us a positive feedback? After six months of positives, in the last week we’ve had three less than positive feedbacks because people pile on and it really hurts business. Thanks for your help, Rob for cornellpubs To his credit, he did revise the feedback.

Bear 1964 Archery Catalog I’m not happy with the catalog you sent, the color is faded and the cover is wrinkled. I’d like to return it, what’s the process for a refund? gemac_6803 ebay
Abby and I reprint over 6000 old arms publications and I confess, they are not all perfect forgeries of originals, we do the best we can. Of course, we will refund your money. Rob – (Cover was not the same as it was when we sent out and the color was fine- look at the arrows, I bet he thought he was buying an original.) *******************************************
Weatherby 1976 Fine Firearms Catalog – The catalog of “sorts” came through to me just fine. My issue is that I found this photocopied version of a vintage catalog to be a blurry, poorly laid out mess. I had considered ordering more of the reproduction Weatherby catalogs from Cornell Publications, but after receiving mine, that will not be the case. Anyone with a low dollar photocopier could do the same from a vintage catalog.
Weatherby catalogs are difficult to print on laser printers because the images contain so much color they cause the printer to overheat which can cause one or two pages to be blurry, something we can fix if we know about it! Our expensive scanner does a great job and Weatherby made the layout 50 years ago, so that was not our fault. We sold over 730 Weatherby’s reprints on ebay during the last 20 years but with two complaints this year I’m taking them down. I guess this guy was just off his milk that day. (No reply to my offer of refund)
********************************************
Sheridan Nov. 1970 Blue Streak and Silver Streak Air Gun Manual – Larger than the original and images not as crisp as the original. timothymchale – ebay
Size is clearly stated in the advert. We cannot exactly match the sizes for each of 6000 publications we print to order. It is a reprint, not an identical forgery, but it is very nice and looks crisp to us, Abby (we asked for a retraction but no answer)
**********************************************
and now… the guy who takes the cake!!!
Ideal 1941 Hand Book No. 34 – Ammunition & Reloading – The product is good. I appreciate being able to get an Ideal catalog from the early 1900’s. The folks selling the catalogs need to work on their attitudes and customer service though. As you can probably tell from their responses. Either way, thank you
Oh great, thanks “ashle”, for less than positive feedback. It was just last Tuesday I was thinking that I need someone to correct me if I’m too tough with the pile-on bullies who leave miserable feedback for a hand-made-to-order reprint of a 19th-century catalog they don’t feel rivals the quality of last month’s Architectural Digest. I’m delighted to know I should be toadying and groveling while I beg those guys for a reprieve. Luckily, only thirteen people out of 867 eBay buyers in the last year left less than positive for us, so I won’t be on my knees too often. Cheers-Rob (I wrote to him, but got no response)

Winchester Model 69a, 72, 75 Complete Takedown Manual – Hi, I have the model 69, not the 69A , do you have the 69 or is there one. More pics thanks. buckwheatbear eBay
I’m sorry, AA Arnold, the engineer who made this manual, never made a set of drawing specific to a Model 69, this is the only one we have. Cheers, Rob for cornellpubs
Hi, does this innclude model 12 20 ga. thanks. buckwheatbear
There are 122 plates in the book and although I didn’t study each page of the entire collection, I see no mention of bore in the book. That said, I cannot guarantee this manual is appropriate for the 20 bore gun.

Colt 1981 Python Manual 4057marco: Ship to italy?
The item is marked for international shipping. Rob for cornellpubs
There is international shipping on other items, but not on this one
I’m sorry, that is too bad, but some items are not allowed, by reasons beyond our control, to be exported. there must be an error because ebay says that you don’t ship to Italy and that I have to contact you. 4057marco
I am sorry, this is an eBay issue, not ours. We exclude no countries from international shipping. I am sorry but some items are excluded from international shipping by eBay itself, not us. Rob

Colt 1978 Single Action Army Revolver, New Frontier SAA Revolver Manual cappy0161 Hi – is there writing on the last page indicating the serial number of the Colt?
Hello, the firearms record is not filled in, however, please remember this is a reprint. We reprint over 6000 different arms publications so we cannot use the same inks, paper, size etc.. Cheers, Rob for cornellpubs

Dear Mr. de la Rosa (eBay), The neutral you left for us says we used copy paper and you expected cover stock. Our description says “17 pages, about 6″ x 8″, with an 8.5” x 11″ diagram. New re-print restored and digitally enhanced from a nice original. Printed on high quality 20# 97 bright acid-free paper. Fully Illustrated.” We do use copy paper as indicated except the AR-15s, like yours, are printed on heavier, 24# rather than 20# paper. We’ve sold 119 copies of that manual on eBay with no complaints. We also say we will refund your money if you are unhappy. Poor feedback hurts us and encourages others to “pile on”, would you please let me know if you want a refund and would you revise your feedback if I send you a link? Thanks, Rob Mouat for cornellpubs
I have no problem revising the feedback. I meant no ill will towards your business. I do Not want a refund and have no problem supporting small businesses. I just was just under the impression that the cover would be a thick card stock like most manuals.
Thanks for the revision. We do most of the Colt manuals like the one you got, the coverstock we use doesn’t work well with the smaller manuals. Most other publications we do, over 6000 of them, do have coverstock, but we mention that in the description. Cheers, Rob for cornellpubs

I am looking for a Model 12 Winchester repair and maintenance manual. If it matters, my gun was made around the late 1950’s. Dan C.
Hi Daniel, The two absolutely best M12 manuals out there are these two (one is for the featherweight): Winchester Model 12 Gunsmith Complete Takedown Manual and: Winchester Model 12 Featherweight Complete Takedown Manual These are exactly what you are looking for, they were created by a Winchester engineer in the late ‘50s. I wish we had them for all guns. Best wishes, Abby

Lewis 1915 Machine Gun .303 Part 1 (Provisional) Handbook- UK – Good morning from the UK. I’m looking at buying some of your Lewis gun manuals, do you combine postage? When I go to check out the price for postage doesn’t change. Kind regards, Steven Fairbank
Hello Steven, Combined International Shipping is something new for ebay. The key is to order everything you want in one order and they will ship it together (they handle all int’l shipping for us). They say “All items in a single order should be packaged together for shipping and properly identified for export and import. Do not combine items from several orders even if the items are for the same buyer.” So, give it a shot! Cheers, Rob for cornellpubs

If I had known that I had to pay through PayPal I wouldn’t have bought from you, I don’t use PayPal because they stole thousands of dollars from me and my friends Earl Carter
Hi Earl, To be honest, we don’t much like them either, but 20 years ago, when we started, we had to use them because they were the only on-line only “bank” that had reasonable charges. Having built our website using them it would be really expensive to redo all 6000 items to not use PP. I am sorry about your experience with them, my sympathies. Cheers, Rob

I just received a package to my house that was labeled as iPhone housing and when I opened it it’s a bunch of what looks like catologs from your company with a receipt for Radek Bust who lived in IL USA. I live in Alberta Canada so I’m very confused how this ended up at my door today and had my husband on the outside of the box that said iPhone 11 housing. If you could contact me back and let me know how this ended up at my door I would appreciate it. Shauna Fulford
Hi Shauna, You have an ebay error, I’m afraid. The package you received was meant to go to someone in the Czech republic and, for some unknown reason, ebay sent it to you. We use ebay to ship overseas fro us. We send our packages to a mail drop in Glendale Heights, IL, USA where they transship it to the person who ordered the item. In your case, they goofed. Your best bet to get your Iphone housing is to contact ebay. Don’t worry about our package, by the time we got it back, it would be pretty beaten up and we would have to reprint it anyway, so just toss it in the trash. Thanks for letting us know, Best wishes, Abby

I’m looking for the 1960’s Winchester 88 manual. Can you help me ? Thanks, Larry Duke
Larry, Maybe, I’m not sure. The M88 manual we offer, was made in 1956. I understand Winchester, around 1964 began using some stamped parts in some of its models, I know the M94 was one of them. If you can establish if the M88 was one of those models, when it happened and when your rifle was manufactured, our manual may be right for you. Best, Abby

Hallo, I ordered the catalog Waffen-Frankonia 1964 (German – The Hunter’s Counsellor) Catalog in a PDF, and got it in my email to open, but somehow it did not save the catalog, is there a possibility it can be re- sent again?? I do not know why it not got saved. I use a Amazon Fire tablet. Thanks, Gunnar Andersen
Hi Gunnar, When you buy a pdf and the download link is sent my email, click on the link provided, and the file is automatically downloaded to the download file on your tablet. If you have the email, just try again and you should be all set. Please have a look and let me know. If you can’t find the download file please send me details- about when you bought the pdf,and I’ll set up a resend. By the way, any time you download anything, it should go to the download file so it is a good idea to know where that is for future reference. Google “where is the download file in a xxx xxx tablet?” Good luck, Abby

Colt 1972 AR-15 Sporter Rifle Manual – would you except postal money order, i am interested in this item, if so who do i need to put on the money order? ak47lord68 – ebay

TM 9-2027 1956 Cal 38 Revolver M13 (Colt and S&W) Ord Maint. Manual – Hi, were these particular manuals originally stapled or bound? Also do your manuals have any markings specifically pointing them out as reproductions? Thanks for your expertise. crete206ydm – ebay
Ours are not forgeries of originals so they cannot be resold as original. We put our logo on the back page and it is pretty obvious they are not originals. I don’t recall how the original of this publication was bound, but our heat tape process is surely not the same as the original. Rob

Can you still get the o-ring that go on top of the charge bar???? Edward Moore

I was wondering if you can confirm if your copy of the “Winchester Model 94 Complete Takedown Manual” would encompass a model 94 produced in 1919? Thank you kindly, Jimmy
Hi Jimmy, Because we are not qualified gunsmiths we can’t give that sort of advice. I can tell you the manual was written around 1960 for guns made then and before they shifted to some stamped parts. We sell a ton of them. I suggest you go to the Winchester board (collectors) and ask their opinion. Cheers, Abby

FN Browning c1965 High Power Pistols Manual – Are the text and drawings in this reproduction of the original manual crisp and legible or are they blurry/pixelated? The image in the listing shows the text very blurry. Thanks! lenny997 ebay
Tough question to answer in a few words. Ebay changed image demands some years ago that made our images from 2003 too small and therefore blurry. We haven’t updated all our 6000+ images. That said, our publications do not rival Architectural Digest. The reprint is readable and satisfactory but not perfect. Hope this helps, Rob for cornellpubs
