TRUMP TAX LEAKER gets maximum Sentence The former IRS contractor who pleaded guilty to leaking the tax records of former President Donald Trump received the maximum allowable sentence this week of five years in prison. Charles Littlejohn, 38, gave the New York Times Trump’s tax information shortly before the 2020 election showing that Trump has paid little or nothing in federal taxes for years. Littlejohn also gave ProPublica tax records for thousands of wealthy Americans including Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, George Soros and Senator Rick Scott (R-Fla). He told the court that “he acted out of a sincere but misguided belief that I was serving the public” by revealing the scope of tax avoidance by the rich. “We’re told by the press that democracy dies in darkness,” said Judge Ana Reyes, a Biden nominee to the bench. “It also dies with lawlessness.”

PAY YOUR RENT! – THE Los Angeles Housing Department, which mediates disputes between tenants and landlords, has been evicted from its main office by its landlord. The LAHD is now seeking workspace for 672 displaced employees, which tenant advocate Tony Carfello says is poetic justice for an agency that’s often lenient with landlords. “Wouldn’t it be great if (LAHD} had someone to turn to, to help them stay in their building?” said Carfello.

Ordered a original copy of this winchester magazine from 1898 and you setn me a piece of garbage copy made on a toy copy machine. Theres not even color like the orignioanl. I have one and it is beautiful you are a cheat and I think you don”t have enough business sense to klet me return his crap. Orange Bill Sykes
Bill, thank you for your colorful note. To save you any further anguish, I asked Abby to refund your purchase. I trust you will throw away the “piece of garbage” today. Cheers, Rob
Oh, and if you read the ad you will see the publication is in B&W and is a reprint. It is also a beautiful copy professionally printed and bound so it was unnecessary to lambaste the product in an apparent attempt to embarrass us into refunding you neglegently bought purchase. We are more polite than that!

The Side by Side, A History and Digest of Double Barrel Breech Loading Shotguns – bigbg76 – ebay – Does this have info on Gold Hibbard shotguns?
No. From what I can find, the Gold Hibbard was a trade name used by Hibbard Bartlett and Spencer in 1910 (only) for a shotgun they sold. HB&S was a retailer based in Chicago. They branded guns they bought from various sources- English and Belgian primarily – with many different names. Gold Hibbard was one of those names. Rob for cornellpubs

RWS 1940 Schiesstechnisches Handbuch Fur Jager und Schutzen – arrogenthunter – ebay – Hi, Thank you I like this catalog. Do you have any catalogs or books on Game wardens from the 1930-1945. I am interested in the numbers on the badges they wore. I don’t understand how they get this number. Thank you.
Uh, no, I don’t think we have any books that tell game warden badge numbers in Germany in the 1930s… Rob

load data for the 577/450 martini Henry – anttre_3522- ebay
Hi, The 1964 Lyman doesn’t go that big I’m afraid. Largest load data is for 45-90 Win. We do a ton of reloading catalogs, what are you looking for exactly, does it have to be Lyman?
No it doesn’t have to be Lyman just any load data for the 577/450 martini Henry – anttre_3522- ebay
Ackley 1966 says “This is a British military cartridge adopted in 1871 for use in the Martini-Henry rifle. A large number of Enfield Martinis have been imported into this country in the last few years and these were chambered for this cartridge. The military load used a 480 grain bullet and 85 grains of black powder to give a velocity of 1350fs. A common practice is to use .45/70 loading data.” That means, I suppose, the load data from any of the cartridge catalogs we sell giving the latter data would work for you, including the Lyman you asked about. I assume you have empty cartridge cases for that rifle. They are of an outdated shape and are pictured in the Ackley book: ebay Item No. 370791493912 Also, one of the best sources of load data for a variety of the recommended .45/70 (see previous email) is the 1957 Ideal catalog. It gives a page of load data for various weight bullets with different powders. I am not a reloader but given that the rifle was originally built for black powder, using smokeless is a tricky business. I assume, but don’t know, that is the reason Ackley recommends using powder loads for the .45/70. 1957 Ideal catalog is No. 371594634182 (just copy the number into the eBay search bar to get to the item) _ Rob ***********************************

Here comes another one…
I also wrote him a note explaining that we reprint over 6000 old firearms publications and not every one is museum quality, we are preserving what we can find. Over the last 20 years we have relied on old photocopies, poor scans by generous donors who don’t trust their precious originals to the mails, and all sorts of product we do the best we can to replicate. By the way, we don’t always scrub off writing because some remarks are interesting. Oh, and we’ve sold a ton of these Anschutz manuals with no complaints. This guy probably didn’t read the ad’s second line that says it is a reprint. Rob

Hello John, Generally, magazines don’t have much resale value, however, you can try them on ebay and see what happens. Start by looking at Gunbroker and ebay for what success other people have (look for sales, not “asking price” to judge value. Best, Abby

I am looking for any TMs, FMs or other information you have the United States Life Saving Service cannons. They were used for various purposes all the way up to the 1950’s when they were replaced with cheap, no training needed rockets. They are commonly called Lyle cannons but others, such as Schuller, were made and used. I have used your search for Lyle, Sculler, Lyle cannon, Sculler cannon, USLSS, etc. I have not found anything other than one Bannerman catalog for civil war era reproduction cannons. Off the top of your head, do you know if you have anything for the USLSS concerning these black powder life saving cannons? Thank you for your time. Chris
Hi Chris, No, it doesn’t ring a bell for either of us. However, we are working on a load of old TM manuals to upload soon. I’ll do some searches of them to see if anything pops up. Meanwhile, I’ll put your letter in our next newsletter and that might help. Update: nothing in the new manuals either, sorry. Cheers, Rob

Browning 1990 (circa) Model 12 Pump Shotgun 20 GA Manual– Good Morning, The Browning Mod12 manual arrived today after a 17 day backlog in Customs,EXCELLENT,it folded nicely and although a bit larger than the original, I far prefer your quality over the local copy I have (the copy was made on thinner paper with overall duller colors and was not fitted together well because the original was not taken apart but just laid flat). My Thanks, well done-Paul

I recently bought on gunbroker 4 publications on Flobert. One was sold as the Flobert 1928 catalog. The only number I found on the first 2 pages that was 1928 was the phone number for Flobert. What is the actual year of this publication? John Groenewold
Hello John, The Flobert collector who sent us the copies said it was 1928. Cheers, Rob

I received the reprinted catalog that I ordered, order no. 84312. I had ordered a Service Armament Company 1960 Catalog. On the cover is printed 1952. On the invoice it says 1960 but on the catalog it says 1952. Please explain. Thanks, Thomas Engesether
Hi Thomas, My mistake. I originally thought it was a ’52 from the date on an envelope containing the original, but later, I learned it was 1960. We do the best we can to properly date undated material. Apparently, I forgot to change the date on the print image of the cover cover. Cheers, Rob

I inherited an old double barrel break action shotgun from my grandfather. There is absolutely no manufacturer information anywhere on the shotgun. I have disassembled it and only found a six digit number (402671). Can you assist me in determining who manufactured this shotgun, and approximately when? I can provide photographs if you will provide an email address to which I can send them. Randy Freeman
No, I’m sorry Randy, there are just too many shotgun manufacturer choices to guess from. But if I were to make a guess, I suspect your gun may have been an old Belgian gun imported by a reseller here in the US. The number is not helpful because we don’t know whether it is a part number or a serial number. Even if it were a serial number those numbers were duplicated by most manufacturers. You could buy Joe Vorisek’s big books on breech-loaders but I wouldn’t recommend it, they are for serious shotgun collectors who are interested in many different makes and yours might not be illustrated anyway.

What is the purpose of receiving positive responses ? And what connection has it to Ebay ? I have been more than happy with your reproductions. I enjoy your retorts to the Turkeys but why do you always mention positive response and statistics ? Gary Troxel
Good question, although I thought I made clear the reason we battle poor feedback. We sell on ebay to attract customer we hope will go to our website, it is advertising of a sort because we do no other type of ads. So, customers come to us through eBay and we tend to retain them for years.
Bad feedback at eBay encourages dumbos and self-styled gunslingers to pile on and add worse feedback, a nasty side of human nature. A bunch of less than positive feedback discourages other people to buy, sales drop off and to compensate we raise prices- everybody loses. That is why we fight poor feedback and why we need eBay even though it is a pain in the e-butt! Also, most newsletter readers find stupid remarks made by others entertaining. Cheers, Rob

Please remove me from all mailing lists. I never signed up for one and I never gave permission for you to add me to any mailing lists. I keep getting newsletters that I cannot unsubscribe from. I have reported you to Ebay because this is a clear violation of Ebay policy. chesapeakevintagetackle – ebay
You must have bought something from the website or Gunbroker for me to have your email address. I can’t delete it unless I have that address which you can’t, I don’t think, send to me over eBay. Anyway, the newsletter has a large, clear UNSUBSCRIBE button at the top and bottom of the newsletter so it might be more efficient for you to just click on that than for you to figure out how to send me your address. Sorry to see you go. Cheers, Rob
It was sent to my eBay messages. Not my email. I typed my email into the unsubscribe box and it cant be found. The only thing I’ve ever purchased was from your eBay store
Ebay will not allow me to send a copy of an email to you and to myself so I can see your “ebay address”. If you can think of a way to get it to me I’ll be happy to remove it from our list. As I mentioned, it is very, very difficult to know how to contact people outside of ebay so I have no idea how your address came to my possession in the first place. If I had your name I might be able to track it through our sales software but all I know about you is the chesapeake… thing. Abby
Cheers, Rob and Abby The End. |
