LYMAN RELOADING AND SIGHTS

LYMAN GUN SIGHTS and RELOADING CATALOGS

Lyman was founded in 1878 by William Lyman as the Lyman Gun Sight Company. A younger brother, Charles E. Lyman gained control in 1917. The Lyman company was bought by The Leisure Group in 1969. Lyman bought Ideal in 1925 but Ideal issued separate catalogs until 1953 when the catalog name was changed to Lyman/Ideal. Lyman made its first telescopic sights starting in 1929 after they bought the telescopic sight businesses from both Stevens and Winchester.
