xxGRAND SAVER AUTO: A 10 year old saved his grandfather’s life when he grabbed the wheel of a pickup truck traveling on the highway at 70 miles per hour. After Hugh Cox, a 68 year old Georgia man, suddenly lost consciousness, his grandson, Drake Linn, climbed onto his lap and took over. Thanks to his experience driving go-carts and ATVs, Linn was able to steer the car through busy traffic and pull over. He called 911 from the side of the road. Rescue workers quickly revived Cox who had fallen into a diabetic coma. “My own child saved my own parent,” said Linn’s mother “It made my heart swell.”

HEADS UP: Archaeologists working on what they expected to be a routine excavation of a Roman sewer found a remarkable 7 foot tall marble statue, likely of the Greek god Hermes. The statue found in Bulgaria near the Greek border was probably buried in the late 4th century, when the Byzantine emperor Theodosius declared Christianity the state religion. Lyudmil Vagalinski, director of the dig, said the locals were likely trying to secretly preserve the memory of their own religion. Christian authorities of the time frequently destroyed the heads of pagan statues, but this one was very well preserved. “It is a miracle that it survived,” Vagalinski said.xx

American Western Arms SA 1873 Revolvers Manual PDF, looks like I got scammed,  Donald E Gideon

Hello Donald E Gideon, Scammed were you? Well, pretty rude, xxperhaps I should just let you go to figure it out for yourself. But no, we’ve been doing this for over 20 years and have dealt with impatient an impolite folks like you on and off the whole time. So, if you had been patient and waited a minute longer for the large file to arrive at the website for you to download you would already have it. Failing that, if you entered a correct email address when you bought it, you would have another download link in your inbox. Have a look, then if you can’t find the email, send me a polite note and I’ll set you up with yet another copy. Cheers, Rob

where is my PDF ?? gwilburton

Hello, “where is my PDF ??” isn’t much for me to look for. We have no sales to anyone named Burton or Wilburton in the last three months that I can see, so, what is your name, what did you buy, how did you pay, and when did you buy it? Armed with that information I can track it down for you and make it whole. Thanks, Rob

Would you happen to know the name of the person that invented smokeless powder-  whistlecleaner ebayxx

Smokeless powder is a type of propellant used in firearms and artillery that produces less smoke and less fouling when fired compared to black powder. Invented in 1884 by Paul Vieille, the most common formulations are based on nitrocellulose, but the term was also used to describe various picrate mixtures with nitrate, chlorate, or dichromate oxidizers during the late 19th century, before the advantages of nitrocellulose became evident.

xxI have some useful information about the publication “Bayard Pieper 1913 Circa (Belgian) Catalog

It would seem that the publication was published around 1921 rather than 1913.
This can be deduced by the mention of a new creation, the bolt action rifle ‘1921 model’ on page 30.
Furthermore, the model of target shooting shown on page 31 clearly shows the date ‘January 27th, 1921’. It is thus impossible that the publication predates 1921. Regards, Jonathan Malo

Thanks Jonathon, I’ve revised all our listings to c1921. We appreciate your help. We’ve only sold a few in the last 20 years so we’ve not had many eyes on the booklet to make sure we were correct. Cheers, Rob

Do you ship to Australia. I have bought from you before in the past. I would like some old reloading manuals. Thank you, Kindest Regards, Tony

Hi Tony, We don’t ship down-under ourselves but eBay ships those publications that countries allow to be imported through eBay (I know, it makes so sense). Australia and many other countries now insist we collect their import duty and taxes, something we just can’t do because they are all different and the bookkeeping would be a nightmare, so, that is why we rely on eBay for this service. Finally, you can buy a pdf from our website and print it yourself or have it printed locally. Sorry, Abby

I have a model c Olympic. paton date April 25 1923 I would like any information on the gun. Do you have an owners Manuel for purchase and the price if one is available. Emma Campbell

Hello Emma, Is your weapon a shotgun, rifle or handgun? What caliber or bore? Can you describe the gun? Patent date doesn’t really help and the commonly used name Olympic could be a trade name and not the manufacturer Olympic. Cheers, Rob

xxHopkins & Allen 1914 Arms Parts Catalog – Hi I ordered the Hopkins and Allen 1914 parts catalog, and was told I would probably receive it by Jun 5th, and as far as I can see it has not shipped, what is the hold up? kennys-23: ebay

Hi Kenneth, Well, it looks to me as if we either didn’t print it or we shipped it and failed to record the tracking, probably the former since you didn’t get it. So, my apologies. I asked Abby to refund your purchase price and I’ll print you a copy right now and send it no charge. Cheers, Rob

I want to thank you Rob for refunding my money and still sending me the book,,, your truly a stand up guy .. thank you very much. I appreciate it.

xxHello, I’m looking for a 1980s George Lawrence leather company catalog that includes a holster size fit chart..might you have one..thanks

No Brad, we don’t. However, most holster catalogs don’t list individual handguns, the list would be enormous. They ask if the weapon is an auto or revolver and then small, medium or large. Abby,

Hi, someone just told me about your company and I’m so excited. I own and run baseballglovecollector and have about 1,300 manufacturer catalogs in the Library, which I share with everyone. I perused your list of manufacturers and noticed there are about a dozen firearms companies who also made baseball gloves. I would love to get hold of PDF’s or reprints of as many of these catalogs as possible! If I supplied a list of manufacturers, would you be able to tell me which years you could provide and how much that would cost? I’m mostly interested in PDF’s and as many as possible. Happy to chat if you want to call. Thank you. Jim Daniel

Hello Jim, If you do a search for the work “baseball” you should be able to see the catalogs we sell xxthat have that baseball listed in the contents. However, Abby and I have worked for over 20 years, since we retired, to assemble a good representation of vintage firearms publications. We pay the cost of operating the website and buying new product by selling reprints and pdfs. The website is also our modest retirement income. We would be terribly disappointed if someone were to buy our pdfs and then offer them for free to anyone who wants to download the files. We make that feeling known to our customers with a statement and tracker device attached to the start of every pdf we sell and, so far, people have been pretty good about respecting our hard work. Cheers, Rob

Hi Rob, thank you for the note.  I totally appreciate what you two are doing and where you are coming from.  With my excitement of trying to add new reference material to my site for the hobby, I didn’t think ahead that it could affect future sales.  I certainly don’t want to do that.  That is not my intention. I have been corresponding with an archivist at Abercrombie & Fitch and he gave me my first A&F catalog PDF (as the hobby hasn’t turned one up in the 30 years I have been collecting).  I was so excited when he turned me onto you and your reprints. Anyway, I respect your position and have been told many times I’m an idiot for giving it all out for free.  I don’t necessarily disagree.  I was always just thinking about advancing the reference material in our hobby.  Thanks Rob.  Appreciate your time. JD

Ideal 1927 Hand Book of Useful Information for Shooters No.28  I have an old rifle xxthat belonged to my great uncle. It’s a 1905 Winchester chambered in .32 Winchester Self-Loader. Winchester also made a 351 WSL and 401 WSL but the .32 WSL was the first to be discontinued. I’m trying to find out what year Ideal book still listed the .32 WSL information? I have some original Ideal manuals but my oldest is a #37 and by that time the cartridge was already no longer listed. Since the .32 WSL came out in 1905 and was discontinued probably within the first 25 years of production I’m thinking an Ideal manual from the 1920’s may contain the information?   taa-3087 ebay

We reprint all the Ideal catalogs. No. 26 was 1916 and No. 27 was 1926 so a big gap. The 1907 has the .32WSL bullets and charges, and I assume most of them before 1916 as well. Cheers, Rob for cornellpubs

Do have anything to help me LD. some bare pistol receivers ? I believe them to be German/Austria or Dutch and between 1900-1940’s. Thanks: Gary Nelson

Gary, I suppose we do, we print a lot of German publications but I can’t recommend only one with all the weapons you are looking for, certainly not just receivers. We have some books that illustrate lots of German/Austrian pistols but that is the best we can offer, For the most part they do not have parts illustrations. Cheers, Rob

Thanks for the reply. I will do some looking thro your catalog.  Gary

Gary, you might look at some of the GECO catalogs and the WUM catalogs. By the way, if you enter the word GERMAN in the search bar you get a lot of German publications. I think the WUM 1932 would be the best for you. It has 85 pages of handguns, most with 8 or 10 to the page, so a good selection. There are guns that are not German as well, but it looks as if most are German. There are also some pages of parts diagrams which, of course, show the receiver. Cheers, Rob

xxI’ve read the various rants you’ve posted over the years and just wanted to say that I’ve been extremely pleased with all of my purchases from your store. It’s too bad you usually only get complaints – I guess there’s more motivation to vent about something that’s perceived as bad rather than praise something good. Just so you know that you really do good work and that it is appreciated. Thanks! Charles Gadda

Thanks for the support Charles, we appreciate knowing people still look on us favorably! Cheers, Rob

Hi Chris, I put your question about Lyle Guns in our monthly newsletter and got a response. John Simpson sent me several copies of Lyle Gun reference publications I will  forward to you using wetransfer, please look for the email. Also, below he mentions a company that sells reprints of military publications. That website is closing June 11 after 30 years so you would have to move quickly to buy from them. Hope this helps, Cheers, Rob

Rob, Regarding the Lyle Gun, the manual I sent that was written by Lyle, Report of Life-Saving Ordnance and Appurtenances. Washington (1878); had a number of illustrated Plates that didn’t get scanned in. Your customer can purchase a reproduction that’s complete from Mil-Inf before the end of June.  John
