The cover with hunter and dog, by Bert Renouf, referred to as the "Birch Forest Series" was used from 1913-1916. This is an important catalog for L.C. Smith researchers and collectors as it had guns that prior to 1913 were listed as number grades, ie; Grade 0, Grade 00, Grade 4, etc, except Monogram Grade. Starting in 1913, guns were now listed in noun grades, ie; Field (old 00), Ideal (old 0), etc. Plus some grades were dropped and new ones added like the new Deluxe, at $1000.00 the most expensive shotgun here or abroad.
