Warning: Some Ross rifles have a very dangerous failing. If they are not assembled correctly, the bolt can be blown out of the rifle into the face of the shooter.

Examine the bolt when it is in place in the receiver. The bolt, which carries the locking lugs, is correctly assembled only when the rear of the head is about 1-inch from the front end of the bolt sleeve. If the head is only about ¼ inch out of the bolt sleeve, the assembly is wrong and the arm is dangerous to fire.
