Vol. II Firearms in American History- The Revolver 1800 to 1911 was first published by The Arms Company and printed at the press of George H. Ellis Co. in Boston , MA in 1911.
The Sawyer collection was one of the pioneer antique arms collections, and this book describes the evolution of revolving pistols- matchlock, flintlock, percussion, and cartridge types spanning several centuries but mainly the nineteenth century. Illustrated and described. Book lists the evolution of patents and manufacturers.
Sawyer is a wonderful, entertaining writer. He includes in this volume a lengthy discussion of Colt and his firearms as well as a delightful chapter about sportsmen and their guns.
