Description
EC Meacham Arms Co. Gun Catalog 1893, St Louis
The catalog advertises both the Daisy and the Plymouth Air Guns which have an interesting history: There were three makers of air guns in Plymouth Michigan – Hamilton, Markham and the Plymouth Windmill Company started between 1882 and 1888. The Plymouth Windmill Company developed an air gun to be given away with each windmill sold as a sales incentive. Eventually they could not support the windmill business and only made airguns. Officers of the boards of Markham and Plymouth/Daisy were frequently on boards of both companies. Louis Cass shot a Plymouth into a paper basket and exclaimed "That’s a Daisy!" x 1895 the company became the Daisy Air Rifle Company. The Daisy in this catalog was the model "Daisy" made by Plymouth Windmill Company. Markham eventually became King Air Rifles and then was taken over by Daisy in 1928. Plymouth made a Hamilton Model about 1889.
