William Read and Sons Gun 1906 Catalog (Boston, MA) Catalog
William Read had originally been a gun dealer in Boston (Lane and Read) during the 1820s, then William Read, then William Read and Sons). I am not sure that they actually made anything, however, they were linked into the regional manufacturing industry and contracted for, imported and sold everything from military to sporting arms and parts such as gun locks. William Read and Sons was one of the first of such dealers to branch out to become a full line sporting goods supplier including fishing rods, etc. In the late 1904 bankruptcy sales of the Baltimore Arms Co., they bought a 150 or so of those shotguns, which they may have handled previously as well. So did Charles J. Godfrey who offered Baltimore Arms shotguns in their 1903-04 Catalog. (Information thanks to a helpful customer)
